Care Delivery to Children with Complex Care Needs
Dr Maria Brenner is a Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for Critical Care Nursing (Children) at University College Dublin. Maria was awarded an International Education and Practice Fellowship award which enabled her to visit the Complex Care Team, Boston Children’s Hospital.
The visits objectives focussed on learning about best practice in clinical care delivery including innovations and effective strategies for delivering high quality hospital discharge, transition and care planning for children with medical complexity and benchmarks and measures of care for children with complex care needs.
During the visit Dr Brenner attended the Pediatric Complex Care National Network Conference, in Dallas, Texas, with members of the complex care team from Boston Children’s Hospital. She also attended rounds in the complex care unit and met with the Discharge Research Team from Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University.
